United States Merchant Marine Academy

The Academy represents Federal involvement in maritime training that is more than a century old.  The Academy grounds, museum, and gift shop are open to the general public throughout the year, daily from 8:00 to 4:30, with the exception of federal holidays and the summer and winter leave periods.  A visitor's guide is available for self-guided tours, and organized guided tours are available through the Office of External Affairs, 516-773-5387.  Group tours of the American Merchant Marine Museum are also available at 516-773-5515  (3.3 miles)

Tilles Center, LIU Post LI Campus

Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, on the C.W. Post campus of Long Island University in Brookville, is Long Island's premier concert hall. A constituent of Long Island University, Tilles Center hosts more than 100 performances by world-renowned artists in music, theater and dance each season  (6 miles)

Belmont Park

Home of the Belmont Stakes, the park is a 430-acre racetrack located in Elmont, NY (8 miles)

Old Westbury Gardens

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Old Westbury Gardens welcomes visitors of all ages for guided tours of Westbury House and Gardens, in-depth tours of the formal gardens, school visits, children's programs and events, family programs, museum exhibits, classic car shows, indoor and outdoor classical concerts, summer concerts, slide lectures, book signings, horticultural demonstrations and workshops (8 miles)

Jones Beach State Park & Nikon at Jones Beach Theater

World-class 6.5 miles of beach that Long Island is known for. The west end of the park provides wonderful surf fishing,. The park is also home to the Theodore Roosevelt Nature Center, which includes environmental displays about the seashore, educational tours and programming for all ages  (23 miles)

Jones Beach has a two mile boardwalk with additional attractions, including deck games, miniature golf and beach volleyball. Jones Beach also hosts the popular Bethpage Federal Credit Union Annual Memorial Day Weekend Air Show (23 miles)

Flushing Meadows Corona Park
